A mother who three years ago threw her daughter into a brown bear enclosure at a zoo in Uzbekistan has been detained on suspicion of knifing the same girl to death.
Zilola Tulyaganova, 34, was filmed dropping her helpless child, Zarina, then aged three, some 16ft into a trench inside the cage in Tashkent Zoo in 2022.
Tulyaganova was investigated for attempted murder but the charges were later dropped. She had been deemed 'safe' by the authorities in her native Uzbekistan.
Now she has been detained on suspicion of murder after using a kitchen knife to stab Zarina, 7, to death, it is alleged.
The girl reportedly suffered knife wounds to the neck. Her grandfather called the police after arriving home and finding her body, say reports.
