In response to reports in a section of media, the State Health Department on Sunday clarified that there is no uranium contamination in ground water at Turakapalem in Guntur district.
According to information from the Health Department, a high power committee, led by Kurnool Collector and former Director of Secondary Health, A. Siri, visited Turakapalem to assess the ground level situation and verified clinical case records and conducted environmental and physical observations in the village, including source of water, sanitation and hygiene, occupational exposures, among others.
