A history-sheeter, P. Vinoth Gurunathan, 25, of Chinna Perali has been detained under Goondas Act.
Virudhunagar Collector, N.O. Sukhaputra, has ordered his detention under preventive custody based on a recommendation by Virudhunagar Superintendent of Police D. Kannan a statement said.
Vinod Gurunathan had been arrested by Virudhunagar West police station in a dacoity case and was sent to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, A. Panjapandi, 51, of Kariyapatti, who was accused of sexually assaulting a mentally-challenged girl in 2023, has been awarded 20 years jail.
The Judge of Special Court under POSCO Act, Puspharani, also imposed a fine of ₹30,000 on the accused on Friday.
