The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Mangaluru City police have arrested five persons on charges of forging documents to help some accused secure bail.
They have been identified as Abdul Rahman, 46, resident of Bappanadu in Mulki; Nishanth Kumar, 28, Ambika Road, Thokkottu; Nithin Kumar, 31, Sujir Road, Bantwal taluk; Hassan Riyaz, 46, Sajipamunnur, Bantwal; and Mohammed Hanif, 39, resident of Kavoor.
Acting on a tip-off, the CCB arrested Rahman from the Urva police station limits and found that he had been providing forged documents, including Aadhaar and Record of Tenancy Rights, to several accused to obtain bail from courts.
After taking him into custody through a court, the CCB learnt that Nishanth, who was working at a computer centre in Kodialbail, was providing Rahman with forged documents. The CCB then arrested Nishanth.
Those who got forged Aadhaar cards allegedly affixed their photographs and impersonated themselves as the holder of the card before courts to help accused to get bail. The duo revealed a few such cases in the Mangaluru North and South police station limits.
