The sleuths of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police on Friday arrested the Sub-Registrar of Sathyamangalam for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 for registering a property document.
Police said Arun of Ariyappampalayam had approached S. Sethupathi, an e-service centre operator from Nambiyur, to register a 1,916 sq. ft. house plot. When the request was placed before Sub-Registrar M. Tamilselvan, he allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹15,000. Based on a complaint lodged by Sethupathi, the sleuths laid a trap.
