Strikes in Qatar: Secretary of State Marco Rubio will meet in Washington on Friday with the prime minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, to discuss the aftermath of Israel’s strikes this week on Hamas leaders in Doha. The attacks on Qatar, a key American ally that hosts the biggest U.S. military base in the Middle East, have unsettled Arab states and further complicated efforts to reach a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. Qatar is a lead mediator in those talks.
