A schoolgirl who survived being stabbed by 'possessed' Axel Rudakubana in the Southport attack today asked why he wasn't stopped as she bravely described her 'nightmare' ordeal.

The girl and her younger sister were dropped off at the Taylor Swift-themed dance class on July 29 last year by their father for what 'felt like it was going to be a perfect day'.

But she told the public inquiry into the attack in which three girls were murdered by Axel Rudakubana how the day instead 'turned into a living nightmare'.

Alice Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, were killed in the rampage.

Rudakubana, who was 17 when he launched the attack, later admitted murder and was jailed for a minimum of 52 years at Liverpool Crown Court in January.
