Travis Kelce has gone from catching footballs to catching heat.
The Kansas City Chiefs star tight end had a trip to forget as his team opened the season with a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil. Dropping the game wasn't the only loss, however.
For the second time in as many seasons, a Chiefs' receiver was the victim of some friendly fire. After Rashee Rice's season-ending knee injury following a hit from Patrick Mahomes in 2024, this time it was Xavier Worthy that felt the brunt of a hit from Kelce.
He addressed the situation during the latest episode of the "New Heights" podcast. Kelce, who said the Brazil trip was a cool experience outside of the game, took full accountability for the miscue.
"I wasn't ready that first drive, I ran into one of my guys and offed him out of the game," Kelce said about colliding with Worthy. "I literally took one of my players out. That's one of the most frustrating parts. It's hard to get your juices back going knowing that you just hurt a guy."
