Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Ultra-low cost airline Avelo announced Wednesday that it has ordered 50 new Embraer E-195-E2 planes, with purchase rights for 50 more.

A press release from the Houston-based airline said delivery is expected in early 2027, and the list price of the order is $4.4 billion.

Avelo will be the first U.S. carrier to operate what Brazilian plane manufacturer Embraer calls its largest and most advanced commercial aircraft. It's Embraer's first U.S. sale of the new E2.

The E195‑E2s will modernize Avelo's fleet, complementing its Boeing 737NGs while improving cost efficiency and network reach, the release said.
