France was plunged into street chaos this morning as an anti-government 'Block Everything' campaign of strikes and protests was launched across the country.
There were up to 50 arrests in Paris alone by 8am on Wednesday, as attempts were made to disrupt key transport links, including the Eurostar hub at Gare du Nord.
'Most of those taken into custody were threatening public order,' said a police spokesman in the French capital. 'Many more are expected to gather as the day progresses.'
Meanwhile, protestors wearing masks and hoodies could be seen trying to set up barricades, and to block road intersections in cities including Bordeaux and Marseille.
The insurrection came less than 24-hours after President Emmanuel Macron appointed his seventh prime minister in less than nine years.
