A man accused of stabbing a young Saudi Arabian student in the neck in Cambridge admitted possessing a bladed article today.

But Chas Corrigan, 21, denied murdering Mohammed Algasim outside luxury apartments in the historic university city in what police described at the time as an 'unprovoked attack'.

His father, Peter Corrigan, 50, admitted assisting an offender and was remanded into custody.

Sentencing for both offences will take place after Corrigan jnr's murder trial next year.

Recorder Mark Bishop, sitting at Cambridge Crown Court, told him: 'You pleaded not guilty to the murder charge, so there will be a trial on February 2 next year.'
