The Supreme Court on Monday (September 8, 2025) dismissed a petition filed by the Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) challenging a High Court order that had quashed a defamation case against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over remarks made during the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign.
A Bench of Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai and Justices K. Vinod Chandran and Atul S. Chandurkar reiterated that courts should not be drawn into political disputes. “We have been time and again saying that don’t use the court for fighting political battles. If you are a politician, then you should have a thick skin”, the Chief Justice observed.
