Charities are invited to apply to The Times and The Sunday Times Christmas Appeal 2025. Three organisations are normally chosen.
Applicants will need to produce great ideas for news and features addressing the biggest challenges and social issues of our time that will grab readers’ imaginations and appeal to their generosity.
Typically, two charities working mostly in the UK and one British-registered charity working overseas are chosen.

Over the month or so of the appeal, The Times and The Sunday Times will highlight each organisation’s work and invite readers to donate. Our writers will visit projects to speak to those who are benefiting as well as to volunteers and staff. Articles will focus on compelling human stories, highlighting innovative, inspiring or surprising ways of addressing issues.
