Congress MP and former KPCC president K. Sudhakaran on Saturday said it was inappropriate for Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan to attend an Onam dinner hosted by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan while protests were intensifying over the police assault on a Youth Congress leader at Kunnamkulam.

Speaking to reporters in Kannur, Mr. Sudhakaran said, “If it were me, I would not have done so.” He added that the meeting sent out the wrong message at a time when the Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio, faced criticism over the assault.
