Reform UK will follow Donald Trump’s lead on borders and net zero if it wins the next election, Richard Tice has said.
The party’s deputy leader told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that the American president had achieved “much to be inspired about”.
“He’s been very successful at many things,” Mr Tice said. “He’s the president of the US. and what is my inspiration is the low energy costs in the US because they drill baby drill.
“And that creates a rich nation where they’ve got high economic growth. He’s successfully stopped illegal immigration so there’s much to be inspired about.”
Reform’s party conference begins in Birmingham on Friday with the party holding an 11-point lead in the polls.
