Taxpayers are funding a new social media ad campaign warning would-be Channel migrants that they risk being sent back to France under Labour's 'one in, one out' deal.
The Home Office is paying for YouTube and Facebook posts that target migrants in northern France based on their location, nationality and gender.
It is the first time the UK Government has used digital ads in the region after French ministers blocked similar posts for the Rwanda scheme because they disagreed with the policy.
Labour admitted this week that no Channel migrants have been returned yet under Sir Keir Starmer's returns agreement with President Macron - despite ministers claiming when it was launched in July that deportations would begin 'within weeks'.
The Conservatives have branded the treaty 'pathetic' and insisted it is far too small scale to dissuade further crossings after a record 29,000 arrivals already this year.
