China has seized the initiative and is actively promoting its vision for a new world order as US President Donald Trump’s aggressive trade policies and multiple volte-faces have shaken Washington's economic partners and allies. This week’s SCO summit held in Tianjin drew in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had not visited China for seven years. Xi used the summit to broadcast China’s demands for more multilateralism and followed up on Wednesday with China’s largest military parade ever to showcase its most sophisticated weaponry.
