Gianni Versace's brother Santo told Giorgio Armani to say hello to his fellow fashion icon, who was killed in Florida in 1997, when he sees him in the afterlife after dying aged 91 Thursday.
"Dear Giorgio, the news of your passing left me speechless," said Santo, who took over the reins of the Versace brand along with sister Donatella after their brother's murder by serial killer Andrew Cunanan.
"Not long ago, we hugged each other again and told each other how much we loved each other.
"When I think of you, I don't think of the rivalry that journalists loved to emphasize so much, but of the profound respect that has always bound us and that has never wavered.
"I think of the early 1980s, when together we were redefining what it meant to be Italian in the world.
