aving reclaimed nearly 40 acres of land, Tiruchi Corporation is set to launch waste management projects at the Ariyamangalam dump yard. While negotiations are ongoing, officials expect work to commence soon.

At present, the collection, segregation, transportation, and processing of solid waste generated across all 65 wards of the city have been outsourced to a private agency. The city generates an estimated 400 to 450 tonnes of waste per day, with around 75% reportedly segregated at the source into wet waste, dry waste, and domestic hazardous waste. While the wet waste is processed into compost at Micro Composting Centres (MCCs), non-biodegradable dry waste is transported to the Ariyamangalam dump yard for processing.
