The Belthangady police have booked activist Girish Mattannavar in two cases accusing him of posting alleged inflammatory posts, concerning the Dharmasthala mass burial case, on social media.
One K.R. Praveen filed the complaint, in which he said that on August 30 he saw a YouTube video of Mr. Mattannavar standing next to one Madan Bugadi, who he claimed was an officer of NHRC, and made statements that disturbed the peace and instigated communal hatred. He further accused Mattannavar and fellow activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarody of bringing people and bloggers to Dharmasthala and spreading false news about the case on social media.
