Florence Mayor Sara Funaro said Tuesday she had received good news from an investigation into a lewd website that published sexualised photos of her, many other centre-left female politicians, Premier Giorgia Meloni, and actresses and influencers, saying that her complaint had led to the identification of the 45-year-old businessman behind the site.
"This is good news.
We await the outcome of the investigation, but in the meantime, I thank all the institutional levels that are working for the speed with which they identified the alleged perpetrator," said the Dempcratic Party (PD) member.
"I filed a complaint not only for myself but for all women.
And I urge everyone to do so when similar incidents occur. Report it, don't remain silent, don't let serious and shameful incidents like this one go unnoticed.
