A former Newsnight presenter has blamed Tesla for his latest driving offence complaining they should have fitted a speed alert warning in his car.

Adam Raphael, 87, was clocked driving at 26mph in his £40,000 vehicle on the A205 in Richmond, southwest London, last January 21.

The journalist and author previously had nine points on his licence from three previous speeding offences and consequently has now been handed a six month suspension.

Raphael, of Clapham, admitted one count of speeding at Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court.

But he is now hoping to raise awareness after Tesla failed to fit a speed alert warning in his car.
