An eight-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he was bitten by a shark while snorkeling in Florida.
The child was in the ocean with his father and sister when the shark attacked him just before 3.30pm Monday near Horseshoe Reef, Key Largo.
A nearby scuba crew boat stopped to help the family and guided them back to Garden Cove Marina, where they were met by paramedics, WPLG reports.
He was 'pale' and suffered a 'significant amount of blood loss' after the shark bit him above the knee, first responders told dispatch as they tried to help the boy.
'He's been applied two tourniquets, we also put [inaudible] bandage to control the bleeding,' the medic said. 'We're in the process of getting some vital signs.'
