A pub has been slapped with a 'noise nuisance' notice over its Abba, Meat Loaf and Tina Turner tribute nights - after complaints from a 'local with a grudge'.

Rising Sun pub owner Terry Kenny was heartbroken to be told 'No Thank You For the Music' when he was served with a Noise Abatement Order on August 29.

The 63-year-old says Wakefield Council had allegedly been trying to shut down his events for two years following a 'daft' complaint.

But father-of-two Mr Kenny claims a 'local with a grudge' complained about the shows again this summer - prompting the council to investigate further.

Environmental health bosses at the authority say they had 'no choice' but to issue the noise order, based on 'clear and consistent evidence' of a 'disturbance' at the pub in Castleford, Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
