A single person can restore eyesight to two visually challenged individuals by pledging to donate their eyes after death, according to Dr. V. Meenakshi, Superintendent of the Government Regional Eye Hospital. She noted that the cornea must be removed within eight hours of the donor’s death.

Dr. Meenakshi flagged off an awareness rally on Sunday, organised jointly by the District Blindness Control Society (DBCS) and Mohsin Eye Bank, from the Kali temple to the YMCA on Beach Road, as part of the Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight.
