Scots television writer Ann McManus, best known for hit dramas Waterloo Road and Bad Girls, has died.
The 67-year-old, who landed her first television job as a scriptwriter on soap Take the High Road before moving onto Coronation Street, passed away earlier this month after suffering a cardiac arrest.
She made her break into the industry while still working as a school teacher in Glasgow, and the production company she founded nearly 30 years ago is responsible for some of Britain's most watched shows.
Shed Productions’ first hit drama was Bad Girls, which was broadcast on ITV for eight series, and it was also behind hugely successful primetime shows including Footballers’ Wives and Waterloo Road.
Ms McManus was the second of six children born in Ayr to father James McManus and mother Frances.
