Five protesters were arrested as dozens demonstrated on Thursday in front of IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir's home, spilling red paint on the street while calling on him to refuse the government's plan to retake the Gaza Strip.

The demonstration was organized by the Israeli NGOs Standing Together and Soldiers for Hostages, which earlier this year called to refuse military service until the hostages are released.

"The Chief of Staff and other top officers past and present have warned that taking over Gaza will lead to the death of innocents and risk the lives of the hostages and the soldiers," Standing Together said, calling the order to retake Gaza illegal.
