Unit processing and selling Savudu soil as river sand sealed

Following complaints from farmers in Dindigul district, officials on Thursday sealed a unit in Vedasandur in Dindigul district in which Savudu soil (top soil) was being processed and washed to resemble river sand.

The farmers had submitted a petition to Dindigul Collector S. Saravanan in this regard. The Collector instructed the officials to carry out an inspection. A team of officials, led by Assistant Director (Mines) Selva Sekhar and Vedasandur Tahsildar I. Sulthan Sikkanther, inspected the unit in Koppampatti.
