The Indian Army has been deployed in Telangana’s Medak district to assist civil authorities after incessant rain triggered flooding and paralysed normal life in several parts of the region on August 27.

The Southern Command of the Indian Army confirmed that its troops have been pressed into service to carry out rescue and relief operations. In a post on X, it said that flood relief columns had been launched and were working in close coordination with the Civil Administration, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
