A disgraced Met detective may have committed suicide in prison just days after his wife was found dead in a Barbados hotel room covered in blood on their holiday together.
Former Detective Inspector Warren Arter, 54, tried to kill himself in the Caribbean but was arrested and brought back to the UK on 'non homicide charges.'
He was found dead in his cell at HMP Wandsworth by prison officers on 12 July 2024, South London Coroner's court heard.
The body of Rebekah Arter, 47, had been discovered two weeks earlier on June 28.
The inquest into Mrs Arter's death heard the couple met in 2006 when Warren was investigating allegations of domestic violence made against her then husband.
