Children as young as four are being sent home for 'racist behaviour' - with suspensions rocketing past 15,000 last year.
The number of pupils being suspended for racism has dramatically increased since before Covid.
Typically, this takes the form of discriminatory language, but can also include social media posts, graffiti or physical attacks.
Suspensions have gone from 7,403 in the school year ending 2021 to 15,191 in 2023/2024.
Campaigners stress that very young children would not understand the concept of racist language, but said older ones were getting in trouble for racist posts on social media.
