An urgent probe has been launched after a dog walker discovered 'charred' human remains in a popular beauty spot.

The badly 'burnt' body of a man was found in Savernake Forest, outside Marlborough, Wiltshire, by a member of the public during a morning walk on Bank Holiday Monday.

The dog walker raised the alarm after the gruesome discovery at around 8am. Officers rushed to the scene and launched an investigation into the death.

At this stage, detectives have not said how long the human remains are believed to have been there or whether they are treating the death as suspicious.
