Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Tommy Fleetwood ended his 0 for 163 skid of PGA Tour tournaments without a victory, completing what he called a "story of near misses" at the Tour Championship.

The Englishman plucked his ball from the final hole at East Lake Golf Club, lifted his hat and flashed a smile sharing elation and relief Sunday in Atlanta. Fleetwood, who was 18-under through four rounds, earned a $10 million check for his efforts.

"This one win sort of completes the story of near misses and it has a crescendo of what has been building toward the back end of this season," Fleetwood, 34, told reporters.

"But when I go home, I'm just going to start practicing again."

Fleetwood, who turned professional in 2010, earned 30 Top 5 finishes, six-third place finishes and six second-place finishes through his first 163 starts.
