First player representing city to play at a tennis grand slam since 1954 faces home favourite Aleksander Kovacevic
Coleman Wong Chak-lam will become the first player from Hong Kong to feature in a grand slam tournament in the modern era when he makes his US Open bow on Monday.
The 21-year-old is set to take on Aleksandar Kovacevic of the United States in the first round in New York.
World No 173 Wong earned US$110,000 just for reaching the first round of the year’s final grand slam event. Should Wong win, his prize money will go up to US$154,000.
