As many as nine students sustained injuries after the private school van they were travelling in lost control and overturned on a railway track at the Poovanur level crossing near Vriddhachalam on Monday (August 25, 2025).
The police said the private van carrying nine students was heading toward a private school in Vriddhachalam. When the van reached the level crossing at Poovanur, the driver C. Sekar, 45, of Puduvilankulam, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, and dashed it against a pole near the level crossing. In the impact, the vehicle overturned on the railway track.
