There was a security breach at Parliament House on Friday morning when a 20-year-old man attempted to scale the boundary wall of the complex and jump inside, officials said. The man was apprehended by security personnel and handed over to the police.“Today around 5.50 a.m., one person, while at the boundary wall of Parliament House, probably attempting to scale it, was promptly apprehended by alert CISF and Delhi Police staff. He seems mentally incoherent. Further interrogation and verification are in process,” a Delhi Police officer said. The officer added that the man has been identified as Ram Kumar from Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi district and works in a factory in Surat, Gujarat.Sources said that multiple central agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Special Cell of Delhi Police, are questioning the man to determine his motive.Following the incident, security was beefed up in the high-security area. Parliament is currently not in session, with the Monsoon Session having ended on Thursday.In December 2023, coinciding with the 2001 terror attacks at Parliament House, two men climbed into the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery and released yellow-coloured smoke canisters, while two others carried out a similar act outside.
