Thoothukudi Mayor Jegan Periyasamy announced that a world-class swimming pool will be constructed at Muthu Nagar beach, during the Corporation’s zonal grievances redress meeting held on Wednesday.Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Jegan emphasised the success of the zonal-level grievance camp, which was being conducted for more than a year. “So far, around 3,000 petitions that have been received in the grievance camps have been addressed. Similarly, under the Ungaludan Stalin camp, 255 petitions were received, of which 221 have been resolved, while 34 remain under consideration,” he added.A world-class swimming pool is to be set up at Muthu Nagar beach for the benefit of local youths. Plans are also in place to develop beach volleyball grounds and other facilities in the area.While referring to the renovation of Thoothukudi Teppakulam after a prolonged period, Mr. Jegan noted, “the pond will be beautified with granite stone around its banks and an artificial fountain.” He further added that additional walking tracks would be constructed along the South Beach Road, where at present a track exists only on one side.The Mayor also informed that precautionary works for the upcoming northeast monsoon have already commenced and assured the public to not worry about water stagnation issues.Thoothukudi Corporation Commissioner Banoth Mrugender Lal, Deputy Mayor S.
