Two gates of Osmansagar reservoir on Hyderabad outskirts were lifted on Wednesday (August 20, 2025) late afternoon.

Two gates of Osmansagar reservoir, popularly known as Gandipet, on Hyderabad outskirts were lifted at 4 p.m. on Wednesday (August 20, 2025) due to rain in the catchment area and increase in inflows. Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) issued a flood alert before operating the gates. The Board discharged 220 cusecs from the reservoir. People in the downstream were alerted.The full tank level (FTL) of the reservoir is 1790.00 feet (3.900 TMC) and present water level is 1788.60 feet (3.579 TMC), as per a communication from the Board issued on Wednesday evening. Meanwhile, one gate of its twin reservoir, Himayatsagar, was operatedby three feet to discharge 1,017 Cusecs. The water level was 1763.00 (2.781 TMC) against the FTL of 1763.50 Feet(2.970 TMC). Published - August 20, 2025 02:47 pm IST
