The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday (August 18, 2025) took out a massive rally in Bargarh, a prominent western Odisha district, highlighting farm distress, and the complicated registration process for the upcoming paddy procurement process in the State.
Senior BJD leaders led the rally and submitted a memorandum addressed to President Droupadi Murmu through the District Collector. While the BJD described it as an urgent step to highlight farmers’ problems, political observers viewed it as an attempt to safeguard the party’s support base in the farming community.
