When I, an Iranian writer, hang out with my Israeli friends, one quick commonality emerges between us: We hate our leaders and wish our countries were taking a different direction. In today's Middle East, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu easily stand out in their damning contributions to regional peace. I should thus feel immediate solidarity with the recently popular slogan of Israeli protesters, "We are not our government."
