Due to heavy downpour in catchment areas and other parts of Vizianagaram districts, all rivers have been receiving huge inflows on Monday (August 18). However, the situation is under control except in a few areas of Rajam constituency of the district.
Madduvalasa reservoir received around 6414 cusecs of water and and outflow was 6060 cusecs on Monday morning. People living in Santakaviti, Rajam, Regidi Amadalavalasa and Vangara mandals are worried about the safety with the heavy inflows to Nagavali and its tributaries. However, Collector B. R. Ambedkar said that there was no need to worry since the inflow was not alarming and there would not be any sudden discharge from Madduvalasa reservoir. He asked the officials to take steps to shift the people living in low-lying areas to safe places as a preventive measure. Andra reservoir, Thatipudi reservoirs have also received decent inflows in the last couple of days.
