But the war hasn't slowed – there are still daily incidents in which Palestinians are killed, wounded and die of starvation; Hamas still holds 50 Israeli hostages; and the Israeli military is preparing to expand the war, a potentially disastrous and deeply unpopular move that could endanger the lives of the 20 living hostages, 22 months after the October 7 attack.
