Two Trinamool Congress workers were killed in the past 72 hours in two districts of the State, triggered by what is suspected to be intra-party feud.
Sikander Khan, a booth convenor of the Trinamool Congress, was shot dead in Chakai village of the Sonamukhi area in Bankura district in the late hours of Monday (August 11, 2025) while he was reportedly returning home on his motorbike.
“I want the culprits to be punished. They planned and killed him because they wanted him removed from his post. He was not ready to resign from his post under any circumstances… They were also disputing the funds that my husband had received for the development of the area,” a bereaved relative of the deceased Trinamool leader told local press persons, accusing a local and his son of committing the crime.
This is the tenth Trinamool functionary to have been killed in the State in the last two months, a year before the Assembly elections are to be conducted in West Bengal.
Two days ago, at around 3 p.m. on August 9, a Trinamool Congress youth leader and son of the panchayat chief, Amar Roy, was also shot dead in the crowded Dodairhaat marketplace in the Cooch Behar district by two miscreants on a motorbike.
