Unabating protests from members of the Opposition, seeking a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, have marred proceedings in both houses for nearly a fortnight now. Tuesday was no different with Lok Sabha adjourning less than ten minutes after convening, and Rajya Sabha a couple of minutes later.

Tuesday’s sitting happens a day after several INDIA bloc MPs undertook a protest march against the alleged ‘vote chori’ (theft of votes) Monday. More than 30 MPs, including Congress’ Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and TMC’s Sagarika Ghose, were detained and taken to the Parliament Street Police Station.

The Lok Sabha on Monday (August 11, 2025) passed the National Sports Governance Bill and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, with barely any Opposition members present in the House. Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha passed the Merchant Shipping Bill and The Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill. The house of elders also returned the bills relating to Manipur Budget without any changes.
