Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha could not conduct any proceedings on Thursday (July 24, 2025) as the Opposition continued to protest in the Houses. Opposition MPs demanded a rollback of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, raising chants like, “Take back SIR.”

Lok Sabha was first adjourned within minutes of reconvening as Opposition protests continued unabated. The events of Thursday were identical to the first three days of the session, which has been marred by protests seeking a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, on the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, and Operation Sindoor.

The latter however appears to be heading to a conclusive end. The Hindu learnt that the Business Advisory Committee of the Rajya Sabha concurred for a 16-hour discussion on the subject next week, in line with the decision in the Lok Sabha.
