Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan has alleged large-scale election fraud in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency. Demanding a probe, he claimed it was part of a nationwide pattern of voter list manipulation.
“The shocking disclosures by Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi show how deeply India’s democracy is under threat. Similar fraud must be investigated in Thrissur, where the Sangh Parivar illegally added votes,” Mr. Satheesan told mediapersons at Pazhayannur in Thrissur on Friday.
He alleged that numerous complaints of bogus voting in Thrissur had been ignored and said the United Democratic Front would consider legal action.
Mr. Satheesan said the State government was “hounding” whistle-blower doctor Haris Chirackal
He alleged a “conspiracy” led by the Health Minister to defame a doctor who had exposed the grim state of Kerala’s public health system. “They tried to frame him for theft of surgical equipment, only to find it later when protests erupted. Then, the Medical College Principal and Superintendent hold a press conference to tarnish him further. The government is trying to silence health workers. We will not allow a single grain of dirt to be thrown on Dr. Chirackal. He will be protected.”
