An alleged dowry victim’s husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law belonging to Tiruppur were arrested by the Nallur police on Thursday, a day after her family members had refused to accept her body after post-mortem at the Tiruppur Government Medical College Hospital, demanding justice.
Preethi (26), an IT professional, had ended life at her residence in Tiruppur district on Tuesday, reportedly due to depression caused by the demand for additional dowry.
This is the second dowry-related death in recent months in Tiruppur district that has turned out to be a topic of discussion on social media platforms.
Woman ends life over dowry harassment in Tiruppur
In the earlier case, Rithanya (27) of Kaikattipudur near Avinashi had ended her life, due to dowry harassment. Her husband Kavinkumar, father-in-law Eashwaramoorthy and mother Chitradevi were arrested.
