Cheranmahadevi police have detained five minors for attacking a 15-year-old boy with sickle as the victim was reportedly in love with a girl from a different caste.
The police said a 15-year-old boy from a village near Cheranmahadevi used to speak with his classmate. Since the boy is from a different caste, her brother opposed it and warned him against speaking with his sister.
When he did not relent, the girl’s brother and four of his friends hacked the 15-year-old boy on Tuesday.
The Cheranmahadevi police arrested all the five and sent them to the Government Observation Home.
