The Knesset voted on July 23 in favor of an ostensibly dramatic declaration: the recognition of the State of Israel's right to Judea and Samaria, and the advancement of Israeli sovereignty over Jewish settlements in the region (in Area C). The Israeli media announced that this was "the beginning of annexing" the West Bank to the State of Israel.
