Monitoring officer for the Nilgiris district, S. Vineeth, told officials on Monday that works to construct Primary Health Centres and other development projects need to be completed in the Nilgiris before the onset of rainy season.

Mr. Vineeth, who participated in a review meeting also attended by Nilgiris collector, Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru, had earlier in the day, reviewed works taken up by the National Highways Department between Burliar and Coonoor. Works to prevent landslips and soil erosion were being carried out along the stretch at a cost of ₹ 19.47 crore. He inspected other road projects in Kotagiri and in Udhagamandalam, amounting to a total of ₹22 crore.

The monitoring officer, who is also the Project Director of the Tamil Nadu Health Mission, then visited the Udhagamandalam Medical College and Hospital, a press release from the district administration stated.
